Media Audiences and Product Assignment - How audience respond to their media products
Task One:
For my Media audiences and product assignment I have been asked to choose a television show which I can research and identify what their target audiences are, (if applicable, age, gender, sexual orientation, psychographics, culture, social class and location);
Age;
What I think the target audience for age is for around 16+ individuals. Why I think this is the target audience for age is because during the show they only base stories around that type of age range and also they use different humour and horrifying and tense moments which a younger audiences would not understand. For an example you would find a younger audience from 5+ which would f started just watching television watching programmes off Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel.
Gender;
Watching Eastender's the gender audiences is easy to identify. What I think the programmes target audiences for gender is for both females and males. Why I think this is because all of the characters are either males or females which indicates that is a both gender show. For an example if you were to watch a show like Keeping up with the Kardashion's, only females would watch the show because it is based around a female cast such as Multi-millionaire Kim Kardashion and also for another example you wouldn't really see a male watching a show that has girls talking and living their normal lives when they would rather watch something like Safe House or Doctor Who.
Sexual Orientation;
From when I watch Eastender's during the week I immediately recognise the Sexual Orientation for the show. What I think the show attracts from the sexual orientation are Homosexuals, bisexuals, lesbians and heterosexuals. Why I think this is because for some of the actor they use within the show are mainly them types of sexual orientation people. For an example as for Sonya and Tina they are both lesbians so if they use them two in the show it would attract lesbian audiences to watch to show.
Location;
As I watch Eastender's I also immediately know where they would attract more audience view for the location. Where I think would be the most viewed would be where the show is set originally which is in Hertfordshire. Why I think this is because with people living in the area of Hertfordshire they would watch it more because with it been where they live and also when a show is set in a place it would represent a place and make the individuals proud of the show.
Social Class;
From social class I think the show would defiantly attract the audience of 3 lowers classes instead of the higher class which would be around surgeants and Doctors. Why I think this is because going back to previous assignments for example Standard Occupation Classification they wouldn't get people watching that have high paid jobs who will be workng all the time because they wouldn't have the time to watch the programme as they would be working constantly and also the only target audience fot Social Class they would attract would be middle class, working class and lower class because they would have more to themselves and certainly have time to watch Eastenders when it is on at 8pm during the week as they are either unemployed, full time jobs which arent always their and also part time jobs which are mainly students.
Culture;
From watching Eastender's during the week you can immediately identify the target audence for culture. First as the programme is set in hertforshire, england the show would be mooore viewed by people from england then in another country, for example America because they would watch more programmes on television that where created from their contries such as ‘How I met your mother' because with the American accident being completely different to the english language. Secondly from the target audience of religion the type of religion people they would attract would be from muslims to asians. Why I say this is because in the show they don't only have white, english actors being characters in the show but also muslims and asian aslo. For example Masood, Tamwar and Shabman as they are muslims it would attract the attrenchion of a audience of muslims because with them wearing muslims clothing and doing different muslim treditions which they would only understand.
Psychographics;
From the target audience of Psychographics (Lifestyle) I think they would attract the audience of people who enjoy good and bad environments, who prefer violent and action scenes and also who have an interest in drama, programme making etc. However I also think that people with a kind and friendly personality would watch it also. Why I think they would watch is it because they is some violent scenes and situations for example which the character Shirley and Phil play, but also they is characters that have personality and lifestyle that care about others and also who don't have rough and violent lively lifestyles. For example Masood and Tamwar.

Why do audiences watch Eastenders?
Why I think different targeted audiences watch Eastenders is because they include different of these Language and Generic codes during their show to make people want to watch the show and also it's because it would be more exciting and enjoyable to watch during the week. Also they include humour and tense moments through out that get s you guessing what may happen for example the ‘Who killed Lucy?" live night.
